Cerasuolo di Vittoria

When speaking of Sicily, today the most attentive people describe it as an incredible variety of small and wonderful worlds: from the almost African beaches on the shore of the South of the island, to the hills, to the majestic Etna volcano, and then to the magical and fascinating constellations of islands.

It is an ancient wine, once called Vinum Mesopotamium, because produced between the rivers Ippari and Dirillo, area known as plague Mesopotamium. This is confirmed by the findings of amphorae engraved with the word Vinum Mesopotamium, discovered in Pompeii and Carthage.

If this area has been producing excellent wines from the times of the Ancient Greeks to the present day is mainly thanks to the fertility of its typical Mediterranean ground. The sandy soil of its vineyards is ideal for the cultivation of different varieties of grapes, particularly the indigenous Nero d’Avola and Frappato, but also Inzolia, Grillo and others, recognized in various parts of the world for their unique and prestigious characteristics.

Travelling through the ancient “trazzere” you can admire rows of vines surrounding remarkable rural architecture elements that have been profoundly restored and reused over time. Fantastic places that become pleasant stops for wine lovers, captured by the flavours of the wines and fascinated by the rural landscapes surrounding the wineries.
