About us
Valle dell’Acate (literally “Acate Valley”) is located in the historic Bidini domain, amid the winding hills of Valle del Dirillo (Dirillo Valley). Giuseppe Jacono founded the cantina in the late 19th century, though the Jacono family had been active in vine growing and winemaking ever since Vittoria became Sicily’s epicenter for exporting wine to France during the 1800s. Since then, this familial vocation has been safeguarded and handed down over generations, driven by a shared desire to establish a name for the family’s wines on an international level. Valle dell’Acate has continued this tradition, specializing in the cultivation of the most prized and productive autochthonous vines, creating superior wines, including the crown jewel of Sicilian winemaking: the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG.
Gaetana Jacono runs Valle dell’Acate, dedicating her time and applying a strong sense of entrepreneurial know-how. Currently other members of the family work in the company as well, including her father Giuseppe, her siblings Antonio and Maria Gabriella. Gaetana and the company have set lofty goals: to foster a continuous search for increased quality, from grapevine to cantina, paying particular attention to the soil, landscape, overall harmony and an idea of production born of the desire to connect deep- seated traditions and ancient production practices with a modern presence in the international market, achievable through the adoption of eco-sustainable agricultural management systems. Gaetana has brought Valle dell’Acate wines all over the world, conscious of their intrinsic value and their unique nature, certain that their inherent qualities and characteristics make them the perfect accompaniment to fine foods on tables all over the planet.

As part of its commitment to recuperate and protect the local territory, Valle dell’Acate has joined the “Le strade del vino” (Wine Routes) project, and the company cantina has become a key site on the “Cerasuolo di Vittoria, from Baroque to Liberty” route. The territory covered by the Cerasuolo di Vittoria wine route lies between Ragusa and Catania provinces, where visitors can see the first foothills of the Iblei Mountains.
