This year, again, we are preparing for the grand wine tasting on the slopes of Mount Etna, at the Romeo Castle of Randazzo in the Monte La Guardia district of Randazzo. Numerous participating wineries will show their new releases all day on Sunday April 14, 2018; while older vintages will be shown on Monday, April 15, 2019. It is the 12th edition of Contrade dell’Etna, which over the years has achieved increasing success and international appreciation. The tasting is an important wine event for the zone and has recorded a boom in its number of participants. Etna has always been a land of wine; in recent past the producers were few, while today there are more than a hundred producers with numbers on the rise. The tasting event in Randazzo, for both winelovers and professionals in the sector, is an ideal opportunity to get to know winemakers and to discover interesting news. The Contrade dell’Etna tasting event was founded by Andrea Franchetti (Cantina Passopisciaro) with the idea of giving light to the productive excellence of Etna’s wines, to present the new vintages and to offer to all the wineries in the area the opportunity to introduce themselves. Over the years the participation in the event by wine lovers, connoisseurs and all enophiles has grown internationally. Along with many awards and recognitions received, it’s a source of encouragement to continue and to improve. This year, besides tasting the Etna’s best wines, without limits to the vintages or references, it will be possible to taste typical, local cuisine prepared by Linguaglossa butcher Pennisi and from the ‘Delizie della Scrivano’ Hotel of Castello Romeo and Veneziano restaurant of Randazzo.
