Tenute Lombardo, a fine Italian winery located in Caltanissetta, in the hearth of Sicily, enjoyed a particular success at the 31st edition of the Mondial des vins Extrêmes, International Wine Competition dedicated to heroic viticulture, with a best-ever showing of top medals awarded, a triplet of GRAND GOLD MEDAL for Bianco d’Altura, Catarratto DOC Sicilia vintage 2022, GOLD MEDAL for Nero d’Altura, Nero d’Avola DOC Sicilia vintage 2021 and SPECIAL PRIZE CERVIM 2023.
Special Prize is awarded at the first company of every single country that obtains the best result, given by the sum of the highest scores of three wines, belonging to three different categories.
The Mondial des vins Extrêmes is an influential Wine competition involving companies from all over the world. The wines are judged by a panel of experts who evaluate the quality, uniqueness and authenticity of the territory.
46 Great Gold Medals, 238 Gold Medals are the medals awarded by 45 technical international tasters during the tastings held last 28th and 29th September.
863 the wines registered by 319 companies from 26 countries of the world are the numbers of the 31st edition of the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes, the only International Wine Competition expressly dedicated to wines produced by heroic viticulture.
In addition to the medals and the 19 Special Prizes, at Mondial des Vins was also awarded VINOFED Prize established by the homonymous Federation of the Great International wine competitions of which the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes is part.
The awards obtained by Tenute Lombardo are a great result that confirms the high quality of the different types of its wines from the white, to the red and sparkling produced in the central hills of Sicily at 650 metres a.s.l.
This is how the Sicilian winery confirms itself as a reference producer for heroic viticulture: two years ago Tenute Lombardo won the Special Prize in the same competition.
